Gareth Batty

After learning his trade at Yorkshire and Surrey, all-rounder Batty eventually settled at Worcestershire in 2002 taking 56 wickets and scoring 491 runs in his first season.

His fine form was rewarded with a place in the ECB National Academy squad and subsequently played in two one-day internationals against Australia. He continued to be an important member of the England set-up, making his full Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2003.

Generally used as cover in a number of further squads, he was named as Worcestershire vice-captain in 2005 and proved his value as a one-day player by featuring in all five of England's games on the tour of India in March 2006.
