Michael Yardy
After playing second fiddle for most of his career, 2005 was a watershed year for Michael as he burst on to the county scene with an amazing run of form which saw him top the domestic batting charts and culminated in him achieving the highest score by a Sussex batsman against a touring team – 257 against Bangladesh.
This all led to Michael winning a place at the National Academy and joining the England A squad to tour the West Indies in 2006. He played for the England ODI team against the West Indies in 2007 and was selected as Captain of the England Lions winter tour to India in 2008.
